Internship Program

The Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency's Internship Program offers college juniors, seniors, graduate students, and law students—both with and without disabilities—an invaluable opportunity to gain professional experience and prepare for a successful career. This program is designed to equip participants with the skills and insights necessary to thrive in the working world while fostering inclusivity and diversity in the workplace.

  • Requirements
    • Can be a vocational rehabilitation client and/or participating in a disability resource center program at a recognized institution of higher learning.
    • Must be currently enrolled junior, senior, graduate student, or law student, or no more than three years past graduation.
    • Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
    • Must be a Georgia resident or attending/attended a Georgia college, university, or law school.
    • Must be able to provide three letters of recommendation
    • Must be able to commit to 20 hours a week and 14 weeks. The 14 weeks is for fall and spring interns. Summer interns must be able to commit to 20 hours a week for 9 weeks.

  • VRC Interns Roles and Responsibilities
    • Under general supervision, Interns will perform comprehensive clerical and support duties. Duties include interacting with individuals with disabilities for the purposes of intake into the VR program gathering information, entering data, preparing correspondence, uploading obtained records, and providing accurate information for individuals with disabilities.
    • Interns will also learn in-depth skills in functional area. Develops initial expertise and work on small projects for review by supervisor. May learn to develop or provide input on the department or program plans.

  • Duration/Compensation
    • Internships run in conjunction will the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Interns must be able to commit to 20 hours per week for 14 weeks for Fall and Spring semesters. An abbreviated 9-week timeline is available for summer semester.
    • Interns receive stipends semi-monthly at $20 an hour.

    2. Qualified students may be selected for an interview with GVRA.

    Applicants must provide and updated resume, anticipated graduation date and three letters of recommendation.
