Work Incentives Planning and Assistance

Work Incentive Planning and Assistance (WIPA) services are available to individuals receiving SSI or SSDI benefits through the Social Security Administration.

The goal of the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) program is to enable beneficiaries with disabilities to receive accurate information, and use that information to make a successful transition to work.

The Social Security Administration has selected three providers to assist Georgians in understanding benefits. These providers are able to help Social Security disability beneficiaries become more self-sufficient by explaining how employment could impact their benefits and help individuals understand the complex process of maintaining SSI or SSDI benefits while working. These services include:

  • providing in-depth counseling about benefits and the effect of work on those benefits;

  • conducting outreach efforts to beneficiaries of SSI and SSDI (and their families) who are potentially eligible to participate in federal or state Work Incentives programs; and

  • working in cooperation with federal, state and private agencies and nonprofit organizations that serve SSI and SSDI beneficiaries with disabilities.
