For Employees and Employers

  • Explore interests and skills.

  • Re-enter the job market, whether they’re returning to an old job or starting a new one.
  • Achieve career advancement.
  • Write a compelling resume.
  • Navigate the application process.
  • Prepare for job interviews.
  • Retain employment.

For Employers

GVRA is also prepared to work with our business community in finding solutions to issues that might discourage employers from hiring people with disabilities. To that end, we

  • Learn the specifications of jobs, and your screening preferences.

  • Apply a pre-screening before referral. This is a customized review of each job candidate to determine if they can meet the employer’s needs.

  • Offer no obligation, no-cost “tryouts.” The U.S. Department of Labor has created Pre-Employment Apprenticeship and Registered Apprenticeship Programs for selected candidates from the VR program. If you’ve never hired a person with a disability before, or if you’re not sure that a particular candidate can perform the job, you can use this option to audition a potential hire, and we will identify any accommodations that might be helpful for continued success.

  • Provide wage reimbursement to cover your costs for training a Vocational Rehabilitation referral who is hired. Alternatively, an employer may access to a Vocational Rehabilitation “job coach” to ensure one-on-one coaching on the job site for a new hire.

  • Follow up on how things are going after our client is hired. Our staff are always available to assist employers resolve any issues and work with you to meet your future needs as business demands change.

  • Offer outplacement assistance. We can assist employees with disabilities that can no longer work for your company and who want to re-employ with another.

  • Discuss tax incentives and credits available to your business.

  • Provide disability awareness training for your staff.

  • Perform an ADA Accessibility Survey for your business to determine whether there are barriers that make access difficult for people with disabilities.
