GVRA and CILS Join Forces to Host SenseAbility Week for Sensory Disability Awareness

To raise awareness and promote inclusion and resources, the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA), in partnership with the Centers for Independent Living (CILs), hosted SenseAbility Week. This exciting weeklong event was dedicated to supporting and uplifting individuals from the sensory community, including Blind/Low Vision and Deaf/Hard of Hearing.

The event provided a dynamic platform for participants to connect with a wealth of resources from local CILs, making it the perfect opportunity for those who had not yet associated with these organizations to explore the services available to them. SenseAbility Week brought together individuals, families, caregivers, and professionals for a week filled with meaningful engagement, educational sessions, and hands-on activities.

"SenseAbility Week is an essential part of our mission to enhance the lives of individuals with sensory disabilities in Georgia," said Chris Wells, Executive Director at GVRA. "By partnering with the Centers for Independent Living, we're able to offer a range of services and resources that empower individuals to live independent lives and thrive within their communities.”

For those who missed the chance to attend SenseAbility Week, GVRA and the CILs continue to offer support and resources year-round. With this event's success, the agencies are committed to keeping the momentum going and ensuring that the sensory community in Georgia continues to thrive.
