Roosevelt Warm Springs Celebrates Milestone with Largest-Ever Incoming Class

ATLANTA, Ga. — Roosevelt Warm Springs (RWS) was thrilled to kick off an exciting fall semester as 115 students arrived on campus! During the fall enrollment process, RWS received over 300 applications, and each was thoroughly reviewed by staff members who comprise the application panel. This thorough vetting process enabled trained staff to evaluate applicants' independent living skills, psychological evaluations, and academic abilities.

Students arrived on campus on Friday, July 25, with orientation activities scheduled throughout the weekend to help them transition into campus life and prepare for the semester ahead.

“We are excited to welcome a strong group of new students,” said Residential Director Dennis “Chip” Medders. “Our program pathways filled up quickly, and we are incredibly grateful to our admissions team for their thorough review of each application. “Thanks to their hard work, we reached full capacity and were able to close the application process efficiently.”

This semester, students can look forward to a dynamic calendar of industry tours and career-focused experiences. RWS has organized visits to locations such as Walmart Distribution Centers, Atlanta Forklift Warehouse, retail stores, and car dealerships—giving students valuable exposure to real-world job environments that align with their academic and career pathways.

Additionally, RWS has recently formed a partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), a leading labor union offering hands-on training in the electrical and construction fields. Students enrolled in the Light/Electrical pathway will have the opportunity to tour IBEW sites and participate in apprenticeship training programs that provide real-world industry experience.

“We’re proud to see our programs grow and our partnerships expand,” said GVRA Executive Director Chris Wells. “We’re looking forward to an exciting and impactful new semester that supports student growth and workforce readiness.”
