GVRA Public Notice Under The Americans with Disabilities Act
In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the American with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”), the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) does not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, activities, or employment practices. Employment: GVRA does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring, advancement, or employment practices and complies with applicable requirements by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Title I of the ADA.
Effective Communication: GVRA will generally, upon request, provide appropriate aids and services to ensure effective communication for qualified individuals with disabilities so that they may participate equally in GVRA’s programs, services, and activities, including qualified sign language interpreters, documents in Braille, accessible electronic documents, large-print materials, assistive listening devices, and other methods of making information and communications accessible to individuals with speech, hearing, vision, or other communication-related disabilities.
Modifications to Policies and Procedures: GVRA will make reasonable modifications to its policies, practices, and procedures when necessary to ensure that individuals with disabilities have an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from GVRA’s programs, services, and activities.
For example, individuals with disabilities who use service animals are generally permitted to be accompanied by their service animals in areas of GVRA facilities that are open to the public, consistent with applicable federal and state law. Individuals who require an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication should contact ADA Coordinator at 1-844-367-4872 as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the scheduled program, service, activity, meeting, or event, when practicable. The ADA does not require GVRA to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of a program, service, or activity or that would impose an undue financial or administrative burden.

GVRA will not place a surcharge on a particular individual with a disability or any group of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aids or service or reasonable modifications of policies or procedures that are not required to provide meaningful and equal access to GVRA’s programs, services, and activities.
