March Recap: Growth, Engagement, and Meaningful Impact
March was a month full of growth, engagement, and meaningful impact for our Pathway to Dreams students across Georgia. Through hands-on lessons, interactive activities, and strong community partnerships, students continued building the skills needed for success in school, future careers, and everyday life.
Across multiple school districts—including Houston County, Muscogee County, Polk School District, Liberty County, Elbert County, Columbia County, and Atlanta Public Schools—students focused heavily on effective communication, practicing clear speaking, active listening, and respectful interactions. These foundational skills were reinforced through real-life scenarios, group discussions, and engaging classroom activities that encouraged confidence and self-expression.
Students also strengthened their workplace readiness skills, exploring topics such as professionalism, positive attitudes, organization, and time management. Middle school participants tailored their learning by grade level, with younger students focusing on workplace habits and older students diving deeper into productivity strategies and employer expectations.
Students expanded their “workplace readiness toolbox” through lessons on adaptability, teamwork, and growth mindset, learning how to navigate change and approach challenges with resilience. Meanwhile, Liberty County students were introduced to job interviewing fundamentals, where they practiced identifying strong interview behaviors and understanding how to present themselves professionally.
Collaboration among CILs, LEAs, and GVRA were shining bright not only in the Pathway to Dreams classrooms and BTG implementation, but also in the expansion of sharing knowledge of and access to GVRA and CIL resources to students, families, and educators. Two events held in March that highlight this strong partnership among entities is Richards Middle P2P Open House and Houston County Schools GVRA and DC access to available resources to support high school and post-secondary goals lesson.
A major highlight this month was the successful execution of multiple CIL Connect Days, which brought classroom learning to life through interactive, real-world experiences.
* In Liberty County, LIFE, Inc. hosted a vibrant, carnival-themed event where students engaged in activities centered around interviewing, goal setting, advocacy, and responsibility.
* In Houston County, Disability Connections facilitated hands-on stations including mock interviews, virtual interviews, independent living planning, and self-advocacy skill-building.
These immersive events allowed students to apply their knowledge in fun, supportive environments while building confidence and independence. The P2P Team looks forward more upcoming CIL Connect Days in April and May!
Additionally, several student groups celebrated the completion of their Pathway to Dreams curriculum, marking significant growth in workplace etiquette, responsibility, and awareness of community resources.
