Rolling with Gratitude: Organizers Praise GVRA for Helping to Make the 2026 VA Walk-N-Roll a Huge Success

Outdoor community event at a blue table with brochures and card displays; several people stand and talk while others sit in the background under trees.

It was a beautiful, sunny day as veterans, active military members, caregivers, and military spouses gathered on September 16 for the fifth annual Suicide Prevention-Recovery Month Walk-N-Roll sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs! The event was a resounding success, with over 200 people participating in the festivities.

Held at the Atlanta VA Clinic-Arcadia in Decatur, the fair featured food trucks, approximately 30 vendors, and an awesome DJ! Outreach Coordinator Chris Myers and Counselor Parris Murry from the Tucker office were on hand to discuss the array of services GVRA offers not only to veterans, but to individuals with disabilities throughout the state.

“I thank GVRA for participating in the fifth annual Walk-N-Roll,” said event organizer Kajuana Pitts, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) at the VA. “GVRA provides valuable assistance statewide to veterans and other individuals with disabilities. Your energy and enthusiasm helped create a supportive environment,” she exclaimed. “This event was successful because of partners such as GVRA, who stepped up and showed out. The Atlanta VA Healthcare System looks forward to collaborating with you in the future!”

THANK YOU to the 60+ veterans, service members, caregivers, and military spouses who stopped by our table to learn more about the services GVRA provides. At GVRA, we are committed to helping veterans secure meaningful employment not only during Suicide Prevention-Recovery Month, but also throughout the year.
