AgrAbility and GVRA Celebrate Twenty Years of Supporting Georgia Farmers with Disabilities
On November 5, the University of Georgia’s AgrAbility Program celebrated 20 years of empowering Georgia’s agricultural community. This milestone was made possible through the dedicated partnership of the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) and many other supportive organizations.
The event honored Georgia farmers with disabilities and recognized the countless individuals and partners whose passion and commitment have contributed to the program’s long-standing success. Guests enjoyed inspiring success stories from Georgia farmers and discussed the bright future of agricultural accessibility in the state of Georgia.
Two GVRA clients from District Seven were highlighted during the celebration which included Donald Adams, a cattle farmer and host of the event, and Iteago Felton, a hog farmer who owns a thriving hog farm. Both Adams and Felton were recognized for their resilience, dedication, and continued commitment to the farming industry despite significant challenges.
“It was great that GVRA was recognized for providing Mr. Adams and Mr. Felton with the support and funds for several pieces of equipment and devices for their farms,” said District Seven VR Manager Michael Johnson.
The celebration took place on Donald Adams’ farm, where attendees enjoyed a guided tour showcasing his livestock and the innovative assistive technology that helps him operate his farm more efficiently. The event reaffirmed GVRA’s commitment to empowering and supporting Georgia farmers with disabilities as they pursue meaningful, sustainable careers in agriculture.
