The energy was high, and the goals were even higher as youth took their first steps toward independence at the Pathway to Partnership’s (P2P) “Bridging the Gap” camp. The program empowered youth to build independence, develop essential soft skills, explore career goals, make meaningful connections, and gain financial literacy to help shape a brighter future. A total of 15 “Summer Dreamers” attended the camp.

Campers participated in interactive, hands-on lessons throughout the week to deepen their understanding of financial management, work readiness, and future career planning. One camp highlight was a dedicated day focused on post-secondary education opportunities. The campers toured the Roosevelt Warm Springs pathways program, exploring various certifications, and then visited Columbus Technical College, where they learned about available diplomas and certification programs. Summer Dreamers also attended Great Wolf Lodge, where they toured the facility and learned about the many career options at Great Wolf Lodge.

Summer Dreamers participated in “Dream Talks,” a series that reflects on their short-term goals and long-term dreams. Cody Clark was a notable keynote speaker who encouraged the Summer Dreamers to think critically about building relationships and navigating real-life opportunities for success.

“I can advocate for myself now, “said one of the Summer Dreamers when asked about their experience at the camp. Eighty seven percent of participants said they would recommend the camp to a friend, and 100 percent agreed that it was accessible and engaging.

The P2P team, which included Disability Connections, NWGA Center for Independent Living, Walton Options, the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA), and staff from

Roosevelt Warm Springs, collaborated to create an incredible experience for youth and provide an amazing experience for the Summer Dreamers.
