GVRA Gears Up for WOW Wednesday at Georgia National Fair

GVRA Fair

The Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA), in collaboration with the Georgia Farm Bureau, is set to host an unforgettable day of career exploration and work-based learning for over 1,800 high school students with disabilities at the Georgia National Fair in Perry, GA. The event, "Welcoming Our Workforce" (WOW Wednesday), will take place on October 9th in celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

This unique event offers students an immersive experience, spotlighting career opportunities within Georgia's thriving agriculture industry, which generates approximately $83.6 billion annually to the state's economy. Throughout the day, students will participate in educational stops, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities that showcase various career paths they may not have previously considered.

In addition to the student-focused events, GVRA staff will be actively engaging with fairgoers through an educational outreach campaign. Families and attendees will have the chance to learn more about GVRA’s range of services, designed to help individuals with disabilities find and maintain meaningful employment.

Also happening during the fair, the GVRA Board Meeting will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Roquemore Conference Center and is open to the public.

WOW Wednesday promises to be an exciting and impactful day, offering students with disabilities the chance to explore their passions, discover new career paths, and gain valuable knowledge from industry professionals. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to be part of a transformative experience that aims to build a stronger, more inclusive workforce in Georgia!
