Students with Disabilities Thrive in 4-Day Summer GROW Experience

Students at the Summer GROW (Get Ready for Opportunities in Work) program had a four-day blast packed with hands-on activities and unforgettable experiences focused on post-secondary education!
Designed for high school students with an IEP or 504 plan, this unique program empowers students with disabilities to explore future goals and career opportunities – while engaging in a little fun along the way. Offered by the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA), Summer GROW opens doors to new possibilities for students across the state
A total of 17 students enrolled in the program. Each day, they participated in engaging lessons that focused on financial literacy, teamwork, and social skills. Students learned how to budget money and were given real-life scenarios such as paying rent and purchasing groceries. They also built teamwork and social skills through interactive activities.
“Summer GROW is a great program that offers students with disabilities valuable work-based learning and self-development opportunities,” says Executive Director Chris Wells. “We’re proud to give these young people the tools, confidence, and real-world skills they need to thrive beyond high school."
Special thanks to the dedicated Roosevelt Warm Springs staff for their continued commitment to supporting student growth.
