Internship Program

The Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency's Internship Program offers college juniors, seniors, graduate students, and law students—both with and without disabilities—an invaluable opportunity to gain professional experience and prepare for a successful career. This program is designed to equip participants with the skills and insights necessary to thrive in the working world while fostering inclusivity and diversity in the workplace.

    Internships are available for the following departments: 

    • Fiscal/Accounting
    • Communications 
    • Information Technology 
    • Legal
    • Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling 
  • VRC Interns Roles and Responsibilities
    • Under general supervision, Interns will perform comprehensive clerical and support duties. Duties include interacting with individuals with disabilities for the purposes of intake into the VR program gathering information, entering data, preparing correspondence, uploading obtained records, and providing accurate information for individuals with disabilities.
    • Interns will also learn in-depth skills in functional area. Develops initial expertise and work on small projects for review by supervisor. May learn to develop or provide input on the department or program plans.

    Note: Interns will be accepted on a rolling basis until the deadline or until all available positions are filled.

  • Duration/Compensation
    • Internships will start prior to the school semester. Selected interns will start the first business day of the month and must be able to commit to 20 hours per week. Interns also can select a standard internship or a practicum.

    2. Interns will then submit their applications via Team Georgia Careers. Please click here to view the list of the available VR Counselor Internships across the state.
  • Requirements
    • Can be a vocational rehabilitation client and/or participating in a disability resource center program at a recognized institution of higher learning.
    • Intern must be a currently enrolled junior, senior, graduate student, or law student, or no more than three years past graduation.
    • Intern must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
    • Intern must be a Georgia resident or attending/attended a Georgia college, university, or law school.
    • Must be able to provide three letters of recommendation
    • Must be able to commit to 20 hours a week
