Meet RWS Residential Director

Dennis “Chip” Medders is a native to Meriwether County. He began his teaching career at Manchester Middle School and worked as a special education teacher and coach for twelve years. In 2006, he was named principal of his alma mater, Manchester High School. During his five years as principal of MHS, the school was removed from the needs improvement list and recognized for its academic gains. In 2009, he was the recipient of the Georgia Parent to Parent Impact Award. In 2011, Manchester High received the SSAS Gold Award for the greatest gains for the 2009-2011 school years by the Georgia Department of Education. 

After five years at Manchester High School, he accepted the position of principal at Troup High School in Troup County, Georgia. In his six years as principal of Troup High School, the school increased its graduation rate 15% and received a 5-star climate rating. In 2017, he was recognized as a national finalist for the “Principal of Principals” award sponsored by Varsity Sports Brands. During his tenure as a school leader, both of his campuses were recognized for their academic gains, overall school climate ratings and increase in graduation rates. After eleven years of serving as a high school principal, he accepted the position of Chief Human Resource Officer in the Troup County School District. In this role, he led teacher recruitment and retention efforts for the system along with other human resource responsibilities. 

He has spent the last three years as the Assistant Superintendent of Maintenance and Operations in the Troup County School System before retiring on January 31, 2023. Mr. Medders was named Residential Director of Roosevelt Warm Springs on March 1, 2023.
