GVRA Partners with BDI to Launch Elevate Academy: Building Pathways to Independence Through Employment

A partnership between the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) and Bobby Dodd Institute (BDI) is bringing new opportunities to life through the launch of Elevate Academy, an innovative program designed to prepare individuals with disabilities for long-term, meaningful employment.

Funded by GVRA and launched with the support of Provider Relations Administrator Jeff Allen, Elevate Academy welcomed its first 12 participants earlier this year. The program delivers a unique blend of workplace readiness training, career exploration, work adjustment, and hands-on internships with inclusive, friendly employers.

“This is the kind of partnership we strive for at GVRA, one that creates opportunity, confidence, and a clear path to employment,” says GVRA Executive Director Chris Wells. “Elevate provides a structured, supportive environment where individuals can grow personally and professionally.”

Participants explore three different internships over 26 weeks, gaining real-world experience while developing critical job skills. Along the way, they build lasting friendships, grow in confidence, and become more independent and ready to take on their future. BDI’s goal is 100% employment success after program completion.

GVRA is proud to support Elevate Academy and the impact it is already making. We look forward to seeing the long-term successes of this inaugural class and continuing to expand employment opportunities for Georgians with disabilities.
