GVRA Celebrates the Two-Year Anniversary of the Bud McCall Grant
January marks the two-year anniversary of the Bud McCall Post-Secondary Vocational Rehabilitation Grant, a milestone in GVRA’s efforts to support students with disabilities. Over the past two years, the grant has assisted more than 800 students and provided over $5 million in financial support for higher education and vocational training.
GVRA’s investment in the grant expanded to nearly $6 million in fiscal year 2025, up from nearly $1.9 million the previous year, reflecting a significant expansion in support. This growth supported an increase in students served, from 323 in fiscal year 2024 to 872 in fiscal year 2025, underscoring GVRA’s continued commitment to post-secondary education and workforce readiness for students with disabilities.
The Bud McCall Grant offers essential financial assistance to eligible students enrolled in post-secondary or vocational programs. Each year, students may receive funding of up to $7,395 for tuition, $9,430 for maintenance costs such as room, board, and meals, and $900 for books.
Formerly known as the Post-Secondary Training Support Grant, the program was renamed in honor of Bud McCall, the son of former State Representative Tom McCall and Jane McCall, a GVRA Board Member. The grant stands as a tribute to both his legacy and the McCall family’s long-standing commitment to expanding opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
To be eligible for the Bud McCall Grant, applicants must have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or a 504 Plan and a permanent disability. Applicants must also be eligible for GVRA services.
